G-TEM
Gloucester
The project
G-TEM recognised the need to expand its production facility in Gloucester and identified a new site. Lawray was instructed to act as co-architect to Takenaka UK for the early design development and then technical delivery.
Wealth of experience
G-TEKT Europe Manufacturing Limited (G-TEM) is a world-class manufacturer of high-quality metal pressings and sub-assemblies. The new premises created over 11,500 m2 (120,000 ft2) of press, welding, assembly and distribution space, along with office and welfare accommodation.
As a practice, Lawray already had a keen understanding of the importance of processes, flows and logistics around sites, so we were able to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the business while work was carried out. This included meeting specific requirements for bonded storage and distribution.
Strong relationship
Lawray worked closely with the Takenaka team, led by Takenaka design manager/architect, Yu Daigaku, from securing planning through to completion. This built on the established, long-term relationship between our two companies. Previous schemes successfully delivered together include – Toyota, Hitachi, Mazak, Futaba and Nikon. These were all large new buildings, providing over one million square feet of production and distribution space.
