Norgine Pharmaceuticals
Glamorgan
The project
Norgine Ltd invited a series of contractors for the design and construction of a new warehouse at their existing factory in Hengoed, a village in Glamorgan. Lawray was selected by Kier Construction Ltd to support their tender bid, which led to securing the project.
Scope of the work
As well as improving the external circulation, service and delivery areas, we created a new temperature-monitored warehouse to store raw material. There was also the provision of QC sampling equipment and a link to their existing facility.
Strong teamwork
Lawray worked alongside their structural and M&E partners to ensure all employer’s requirements were met, as well as providing the most effective and economical solution.
We were also responsible for ensuring the speedy discharge of all pre-commencement planning conditions, as time frames were short between tender and site-start dates.
It was essential to engage early on with building control to fully understand the fire safety requirements and de-risk any late amendments during the construction phase. The need to maintain a constant temperature meant we needed to stay co-ordinated with other consultants to avoid any potential issues.
