The Project
The Creative Industries Building at Glyndwr University brings together the skills within its existing Schools of Art, Computer Science, Humanities and Media to create a centre of excellence.
Blending into the landscape
Because the building lies in a highly visible location and in front of a sensitive listed building at the gateway to Wrexham, the design uses its contoured green roof to blend into an adjacent embankment. Its form provides a contrast to the formal appearance of the existing 1950’s main building.
The profile of the exterior enables the creation of interesting internal spaces and view-points remaining open yet privately functional.
Low energy design
The selection of energy sources and materials further creates a building of low energy use and embodiment and includes many environmental sustainable design features.
The Creative Industries Building is a new initiative for the new University, which is reflected in its innovative design.
