Wrexham Tennis Centre
Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre has completed a major expansion and modernisation programme, transforming the facility into a leading sports destination for North Wales. The project was driven by the ambition to increase tennis participation, improve operational sustainability, and future-proof the centre for long-term community use.
Padel Courts & Sporting Innovation
A key highlight of the development is the introduction of North Wales’ first-ever Padel Tennis courts. This innovative addition responds to the rapid growth of the sport and aligns with strategic objectives set by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) following a sustainability review. The new courts are already attracting a broader demographic of players and introducing a new sporting opportunity to the region.
Court Upgrades & Facility Enhancements
Alongside the padel courts, all outdoor tennis courts were resurfaced and resized to meet national and international competition standards. The installation of energy-efficient LED lighting and permeable court surfaces enables year-round play while reducing environmental impact. These improvements significantly enhance both the quality and resilience of the facilities.
Sustainability & Community Integration
Sustainability was central to the project’s design approach. Upgraded solar panels, new EV charging points, and increased cycle storage promote greener travel choices, while landscape enhancements improve accessibility and create a welcoming environment. New seating areas and pedestrian walkways encourage social interaction and greater community use of the site.
Internal Refurbishment & Strategic Context
Internal refurbishments to the café, changing rooms, and fitness suite have further elevated the visitor experience, reinforcing the centre’s role as a vibrant community hub. Strategically located within Wrexham’s proposed City Sports Quarter, the Tennis and Padel Centre aligns with wider regeneration plans, including the WAFC stadium development and the Wrexham Glyndŵr University campus expansion planned for 2026. Together, these developments position the centre as a catalyst for future investment and a cornerstone of a thriving, inclusive sporting community.
