Press Glass UK
The new Press Glass factory in Port Talbot is a £65million, purpose-built manufacturing facility designed to support high-volume, highly automated glass processing for the assembly of insulated glazed units (IGUs) within a robust and future-proofed industrial envelope. At approximately 250,000 sq ft, the project replaces three former regional plants with a single, consolidated operation tailored specifically to the requirements of the UK market.
Precision-Engineered Manufacturing Environment
From an architectural and delivery perspective, the build was driven by scale, precision, and operational efficiency. The structure was designed to accommodate extensive specialist machinery, including multiple tempering furnaces, IGU production lines, robotic handling systems, and large-format cutting equipment, requiring generous clear spans, high load capacities, and carefully coordinated service integration.
Flexibility and workflow were central to the building’s layout, enabling automation to be embedded throughout the production process while minimising manual handling. The internal environment was designed to support consistent quality, efficient circulation, and future expansion as production demands increase.
Sustainable Manufacturing Facility
Sustainability was also integral to the build strategy. The facility incorporates energy-efficient construction methods, advanced building services, and a rooftop solar PV array to reduce operational energy demand and carbon emissions, supporting Press Glass’s wider environmental objectives.
Completed and operational from November 2024, the Port Talbot factory balances technical performance, sustainability, and long-term adaptability, while providing a durable platform for Press Glass UK’s continued growth.
