Llandudno, Police Station

Synopsis

Lawray was appointed as Architect and Lead Consultant for the new Police Station in Llandudno just outside the town’s Conservation area. Replacing the existing Edwardian station which was no longer suitable for modern policing and in a poor state of repair the decision was taken to adopt a more contemporary design solution rather than ape the adjacent buildings.

The striking design introduces a crisp modern aesthetic reflecting the status of an important civic building in the town with material chosen, in close consultation with the local Planning Authority, to withstand the often harsh micro-climate and reduce the need for on-going maintenance.

Due to start on site in spring 2016 the competed facility will achieve BREEAM Excellent.

Lawray are an organisation which is committed to delivery without exception to quality. They are a well organised team with an excellent record in dealing with all levels of client in a complex organisation. Impressive design outcomes and a ‘can do’ attitude only provide benefit to projects they have been involved with. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lawray to any organisation.
