Better together
Championed by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and adapted during a 41-week build project, Barry station is the latest venue operated by the service, which supports emergency services working alongside each other.
By refurbishing around 5000ft of redundant space on the first floor of the Station, the area has become a new facility for the Welsh Ambulance Service – including welfare, office and meeting facilities.
A vital hub
A second phase on the ground floor included the complete refurbishment of the existing Whole Time Fire Station and the provision of a shared welfare area for both parties. The works also extended to refurbishing the existing community room that provides a vital hub for local organisations.
