Llandudno, Police Station

Synopsis

Lawray was appointed as Architect and Lead Consultant for the new Police Station in Llandudno just outside the town’s Conservation area. Replacing the existing Edwardian station which was no longer suitable for modern policing and in a poor state of repair the decision was taken to adopt a more contemporary design solution rather than ape the adjacent buildings.

The striking design introduces a crisp modern aesthetic reflecting the status of an important civic building in the town with material chosen, in close consultation with the local Planning Authority, to withstand the often harsh micro-climate and reduce the need for on-going maintenance.

Due to start on site in spring 2016 the competed facility will achieve BREEAM Excellent.

A very professional practice with diligent staff. Lawray provided [us]with excellent consultancy nationwide on many types of commercial/industrial design and build projects. We look forward to working together again in the near future.
