Llandudno, Police Station

Synopsis

Lawray was appointed as Architect and Lead Consultant for the new Police Station in Llandudno just outside the town’s Conservation area. Replacing the existing Edwardian station which was no longer suitable for modern policing and in a poor state of repair the decision was taken to adopt a more contemporary design solution rather than ape the adjacent buildings.

The striking design introduces a crisp modern aesthetic reflecting the status of an important civic building in the town with material chosen, in close consultation with the local Planning Authority, to withstand the often harsh micro-climate and reduce the need for on-going maintenance.

Due to start on site in spring 2016 the competed facility will achieve BREEAM Excellent.

Lawray Architects are an affable bunch of people, easy to work with yet still very professional. That’s especially useful for clients who aren’t used to the everyday business of design, contractors and tenders. They approach the job and client as you would like to think you would do yourself with anyone working in unfamiliar territory.
